NEFC Newton Academy is an invitation-only, year-round club program (Fall, Winter & Spring) that is part of Newton Girls Soccer, a private, nonprofit organization and the largest girls’ soccer club in the state.
The NEFC Newton Academy is dedicated to girls ages U9-U15 (1st Grade – 8th Grade) seeking a competitive club soccer experience within a development-focused, community-based environment. Our club philosophy is to create a FUN, positive learning environment which helps maximizes player development. Our coaches aim to develop skilled, confident and creative soccer players teaching them all aspects of the game which center around the four pillars of players development (Technical, Tactical, Physical & Psychological skills).
Motivated candidates should be prepared to:
- Work closely with a team of Academy coaches and report directly to our Director of Coaching
- Fulfill or be working towards a US Soccer Coaching License specific to their playing format or have respective USC Diploma or equivalent. Our coaches should create a plan to complete coaching licenses with our DOC
- Demonstrate comprehensive soccer knowledge and have personal experience playing in a competitive soccer environment
- Have various experiences working with young athletes
- Prepare purposeful and well-planned training sessions using NGS Coaching Curriculum
- Be engaged during sessions and games, maintain positive coaching style and provide regular immediate feedback to players
- Display excellent communication skills and incorporate positive feedback through player evaluations and using our club’s online application
- Fulfill the time commitments listed below for the position of either *7v7 or **9v9 & 11v11 Academy Soccer Coach
*7v7 Academy Coach Time Commitment (approximately 3-5 hours weekly)
- Train once a week (Weds) in Newton for fall, winter and spring seasons
- Coach Sunday games fall and spring in New England Club Soccer League
- Coach 3-4 indoor scrimmages on Saturdays in January and February
- Coach three weekend Soccer tournaments throughout the year
- October – Columbus Day / Indigenous People’s Day Weekend
- March – NEFC Spring Showcase Tournament
- May – Memorial Day Weekend
- Maintain some weekly communication and administrative responsibilities
- Participate in the spring with player assessments and team selection process
**9v9 & 11v11 Academy Coach Time Commitment (approximately 4-6 hours weekly)
- Train twice a week (Mon & Weds) in Newton for fall and spring seasons
- Train once a week for winter season
- Coach Sunday games fall and spring in New England Club Soccer League
- Coach 3-4 indoor scrimmages on Saturdays in January and February
- Coach three weekend Soccer tournaments throughout the year
- October – Columbus Day / Indigenous People’s Day Weekend
- March – NEFC Spring Showcase Tournament
- May – Memorial Day Weekend
- Maintain some weekly communication and administrative responsibilities
- Participate in the spring with player assessments and team selection process
NEFC Newton Academy offers competitive compensation for our coaching staff. We provide coaches equipment bags, coaching apparel and will reimburse the cost of coach education licenses upon completion.
