Registration for 3rd Grade – 8th Grade Travel soccer is completed on an annual basis, as players commit to their team for two seasons: fall and spring. Participants are encouraged to participate in assessments to ensure appropriate team placements. Register your daughter in early April – prior to assessments – to commit to play the following fall and spring soccer seasons. Late registrations are accepted space permitting. Most late registrants will be placed on a waitlist and placed only if a spot opens on a team with an appropriate skill level. Occasionally spots open up in late-August or late-March, as players’ plans change.
High School Travel teams play in the spring season only. There are no assessments. 1 – 2 teams are formed, depending on interest.

Registration for NEFC-NGS Academy teams is by invitation-only. Players in rising Grades 2 – 8 must not register for the Academy unless they have received an acceptance letter. To be considered, players are asked to declare interest in early-April and participate in an ID Clinic. The Academy invitation and registration period starts in mid-May and continues for approximately 4 weeks until rosters are full. Late registrations are not accepted.
Registration for NGS Junior Academy teams is first-come, first-served. Registration is open to players in rising Grades 1 – 2. Registrations will be accepted until the program is full. Late registrants will be added to a waitlist.
Registration for both the competitive and junior teams is completed on an annual basis, as players commit to their team for three seasons: fall, winter and spring.
Fees includes all program expenses for 3 seasons (fall, winter, spring), except uniforms and any optional team activities. Installment plans are available.

Registration fees as listed for the Juniors, City and Travel programs include a fee that the City of Newton has implemented for any youth sports organizations using grass fields. In additional to hourly rental fees, NGS is charged $20 per player, per season for field access. This mandatory, non-refundable fee is collected by NGS when a player registers and is paid directly to Newton PR&C every season.
Newton Girls Soccer uses Sports Connect (formerly called Blue Sombrero), an online sports team service, to administer the club’s registrations. Sports Connect adds a $3.00 service fee to each transaction. (Note: If you are on a payment plan, each installment payment counts as a transaction.) This is still a savings compared to other companies which charge a fee per registration per player. Save on fees by registering all of your players and programs on one transaction. This fee is added at checkout.
There is not a charge to add a player to the waitlist. You will be required to pay the registration fee if the player is placed on a team.
NGS provides a $20 discount if you register more than one participant in any program. Participants must be registered under the same Sports Connect account. A discount code is not required. This discount is added at checkout. If you are concerned that the discount didn’t apply at checkout, please email NGS Registrar.
It is the policy of Newton Girls Soccer that no child should be denied the opportunity to play soccer due to their family’s financial situation. NGS may waive or reduce registration fees and provide a uniform for players in need of financial support. Learn how to apply for financial aid.
