Our player-centered approach is the heart of Newton Girls Academy. Within our small-scale, community-based program we are uniquely positioned to guide each player’ development with individualized training. Our coaches know your child inside out. Since kindergarten, we’ve observed her game, strengths, and areas for growth. Customized coaching ensures she thrives both on and off the field. Each team has a primary coach, but players have opportunities to work with all of our trainers.
Newton Girls Academy is regularly commended for the professionalism of our coaches. Each trainer brings skill, talent, and passion to teaching the beautiful game. In addition, as a girls’ club, we are particularly proud that our team of 20 professionals includes 12 exceptional women. Female coaches play a crucial role in shaping the athletic experiences of girls, influencing their self-perceptions, aspirations, and long-term participation.
Newton Girls Academy propels young players toward exceptional outcomes. Our graduates possess the technical skills, tactical acumen, and mental resilience to continue to play at a premier level. Beyond the Academy, we can guide their transition to high school, setting them up for college or NWSL dreams. Many join prestigious clubs like NEFC and NEFC-Chestnut Hill SC, competing at DPL, ECNL, and Girls Academy levels. Notably, our alums shine on Newton North and Newton South Varsity, JV and Freshman teams. As we celebrate our 12th year, we are excited to see our alums thriving at college soccer powerhouses like Trinity, Holy Cross, Marist, Northeastern, and Wilmington.
Our partnership with New England Futbol Club (NEFC) has allowed us to access top-tier competition without compromising our distinctive culture and identity. Academy teams participate in the New England Club Soccer League (NECSL). With 85 member clubs and over 2000 teams, NECSL provides an optimal level of competitive play for each of our teams and meets our high standards for organization, transparency, and playing environment.
We know that many players join club soccer programs to satisfy their desire for more frequent, higher-level training and games. At the same time, they don’t want to give up playing with friends on their NGS Travel team. Our Academy is in sync with NGS Travel team schedules, allowing your daughter to thrive in both teams. Plus, all practices and home games are in Newton. Fewer hours in the car means more time for rest, family dinners, schoolwork and other activities!
Players, parents, and coaches selected “Teammates for Now, Friends for Life” as our Academy slogan with good reason! Our coaches regularly collaborate and are very accessible. Families connect, share rides, and support one another. On and off the field, our players are more than teammates– they’re friends. We celebrate our close-knit community with a newsletter, social media, and special events.
Young, competitive athletes are prone to overuse injuries and burnout. Our holistic approach emphasizes an athlete’s overall well-being, teaching players the importance of balancing their physical, mental, emotional, and social needs. Collaborating with local experts, we incorporate lessons on proper nutrition and hydration, rest and recovery, stretching and foam rolling techniques, and injury and concussion prevention.
We strive to create a positive, competitive environment that unlocks each player’s full potential and allows them to become a well-rounded, confident athlete. Our coaches shape exceptional players by embracing the Play the NGS Way club style of training and an age-appropriate curriculum focused on the four pillars of player development: technical, tactical, physical, and psychological. With a commitment to continuous learning, our staff bring fresh ideas to the field each session to keep players engaged, motivated, and excited about playing soccer.
We consistently go the extra mile, fine-tuning our program to deliver exceptional outcomes and participant satisfaction. Recent and planned enhancements include:
The Academy program is affordable at approximately half the cost of for-profit clubs. We are proud to offer financial assistance to families that need it.
