Owen has been a professional trainer for numerous NGS teams since 2001 (earning MTOC champion and runner-up titles) and has been a Newton Academy coach since its inception, working with Caleb Thomson to train the sixth through eighth graders. Countless youth have benefited from Owen’s coaching experience, from his early days as a camp soccer counselor (just of the plane from England in 1985) to his recent positions as Assistant Coach with the top-ranked Newton South Girls Varsity team (2000 – 2022) and Coach of the Brookline Girls JV team (2023). Owen believes that his role as a coach is to help girls develop mental and physical strength while learning to work together as a group to achieve common goals. By the time his players graduate NGS, they are ready for high school. When not coaching, Owen is the Assistant Director of Camp Schodack, where he has worked for over 25 years. In his free time, you can find him watching soccer or writing poetry.
