Newton Girls Soccer is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting girls soccer in the City of Newton. It is the largest girls soccer club in the state, providing a variety of soccer programs throughout the year for over 1,300 girls. Our programs support a wide range of individual skills, competitiveness, and commitment levels. Options include a recreational program (City), a travel program (BAYS), and an Academy program (NECSL), as well as skills clinics.
To provide each NGS player the opportunity to learn and play soccer in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes fun, individual skills development, teamwork and sportsmanship, all at a level that fits her interest and ability.
NGS aims to lead the soccer community in sportsmanship, innovation, programming, and administration. Emphasizing values like integrity and respect, the Club strives to create an environment that promotes individual character, team building, and the positive emotional and physical development of players. In addition, NGS is committed to the continuous development of its coaches, officials, administrators, and leaders. Ongoing education and training opportunities are provided to enhance their skills, contributing to an optimal experience for players.
NGS is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors overseeing policy and fiscal affairs. Board members are elected by the NGS community at the Annual General Meeting. The Board, which convenes approximately six times per year, elects three executive officers: President, Treasurer, and Clerk. Every board member must actively engage in one of the committees tasked with the day-to-day administration of NGS programs. Meet the Team
Rose Chalfin founded Newton Girls Soccer League (NGS) in 1977. Her unwavering commitment to empowering girls and providing them with a purposeful sense of belonging has left an indelible mark on our community. NGS has grown from its humble beginnings into the largest girls’ soccer league in New England. Today, we proudly embrace over 1200 girls and 150 volunteer coaches who take to the pitch each season. Thank you, Rose!
