Anna Mariani

Anna grew up in Newton and started playing soccer with NGS in 3rd grade. She went on to play with various club teams and the Newton North HS varsity team. During her senior year, her team won the State Championship and ranked #1 in the US with a record of 23-0. In 2020, NNHS inducted Anna and her team into their Athletic Hall of Fame. Anna played D1 soccer at Providence College. After graduating with a BS in Biology, Anna coached at North Smithfield HS in RI and then at Emmanuel College. While earning her Master’s of Public Health at BU and Harvard, she coached with FC Greater Boston Bolts and Charles River United SC. Anna coached the U9 Girls team through to U13 when they won the State Tournament and competed in the Regional Championship in PA. Anna spent many years refereeing and holds national coaching licenses. Anna approaches coaching with passion and knowledge of the game. She encourages creativity and hard work balanced with having fun and playing as a team.
