Newton Academy seeks experienced, motivated soccer coaches to join our team. Part-time head coach and assistant coach positions are often available. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

About Us

Newton Academy is an invitation-only, year-round club program (fall, winter & spring) dedicated to girls aged U9 – U15. We are part of Newton Girls Soccer, a private, nonprofit organization and the largest girls’ soccer club in the state. Our coaches aim to develop skilled, confident and creative soccer players teaching them all aspects of the game which center around the four pillars of players development (Technical, Tactical, Physical & Psychological skills).

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Licensed or working towards a US Soccer Coaching License, USC Diploma or equivalent certification specific to the relevant playing format.
  • Comprehensive soccer knowledge
  • Personal experience playing in a competitive soccer environment
  • Experience working with young athletes
  • Positive coaching style
  • Excellent communication skills

Expectations

  • Work closely with a team of Academy coaches and report directly to our NGS Director of Coaching
  • Be engaged during sessions and games: maintain positive coaching style, display professional appearance and attitude, and provide regular, timely feedback to players
  • Communicate consistently and clearly with players, parents, team managers and club staff
  • Fulfill the time commitments and responsibilities listed below for the position of either Academy or Development Academy Soccer Coach

Academy Coach Time Commitment and Responsibilities

Approximately 3-5 hours weekly

  • Prepare purposeful and well-planned training sessions using NGS Coaching Curriculum
  • Train once a week in Newton for fall, winter and spring seasons
  • Coach Sunday games fall and spring in New England Club Soccer League
  • Coach Futsal games on Saturdays during winter season
  • Coach at least one Futsal tournament and two additional weekend Soccer tournaments
  • Provide regular positive feedback to players through evaluations and our club’s online application (the Positive Coaching App)
  • Maintain some weekly communication and administrative responsibilities
  • Participate in player assessments and team selection process in May and June

Development Coach Time Commitment and Responsibilities

Approximately 2-4 hours weekly

  • Prepare purposeful and well-planned training sessions using NGS Coaching Curriculum
  • Train once a week in Newton for fall, winter and spring
  • Coach Futsal games on Saturdays during winter season
  • Coach one Futsal tournament during winter season
  • Provide regular positive feedback to players through evaluations and our club’s online application (the Positive Coaching App)
  • Maintain some weekly communication and administrative responsibilities
  • Participate in player assessments and team selection process in May and June

Compensation

Newton Academy offers competitive compensation, commensurate with qualifications and experience. We also offer reimbursement of fees upon completion of select coach education courses.
