Coaching Education

Newton Girls Soccer is committed to providing opportunities for continued education and development for all our coaches through coaching clinics and courses. NGS will regularly host and provide opportunities to participate in official license courses through Mass Youth Soccer and coaches are strongly encouraged to further their coaching education. There are two main coach license pathways. Typically as a club we have hosted the US Soccer courses, but both US Soccer and NSCAA (National Soccer Coached Association of America), routes give excellent opportunities for coaches to develop knowledge and styles of coaching to benefit of our players.

NGS will reimburse the cost of license registration fees for all coaches.  Reimbursement requests should be emailed along with your receipt and home address to the club treasurer – nina.levin @

Mandatory Coaching Licenses

As a minimum, all NGS coaches should undertake the following training when coaching or assisting with one of our teams:

USSF National F License (Online) (2hr online course)

Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)

CDC Concussion Training

Additional USSF or NSCAA Licensing

NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 Online Diploma

NSCAA Get aHEAD Safely in Soccer™ Online Diploma Course

NSCAA Level 1 Futsal Diploma

As coaches continue with Newton Girls Soccer and move through the age groups, they are encouraged to work up the license pathway. Licenses are also one of our criteria taken into consideration when it comes to selecting coaches for BAYS Travel teams. NGS periodically hosts either USSF or NSCAA courses, while you can find a master list of courses being held across the state at Mass Youth Soccer
