The most effective parent coaches set goals at the start of every season.  Your season can be fun and rewarding if your goals are realistic – a lot less than that if they are not.  An under-challenged team won’t progress and an over-challenged team may become discouraged.  But how do you know what goals are realistic and achievable for your age group?  How do you find the best way to achieve those goals?

Gary Beatty of Mass Premier Soccer and NGS’ Director of Coaching (DOC) will lead an evening Coach Education session focusing on Age-Appropriate Coaching Goals & Guidelines for youth soccer coaches.  Gary will be joined by Mark McDevitt, Mass Premier Soccer’s Premier Teams Director.

Gary and Mark will run through real training sessions with three different age groups of NGS and NYS players.  For each age group, they will take turns with one coach demonstrating with the players, while the other coach explains to the NGS/NYS coaches the training and development goals, priorities and expectations for each age group.  The age-appropriate activities and teaching methods they show you will help your players progress.  You will see how to change your emphasis on the four pillars of soccer-- technical, tactical, physical and psychological--with the age and development of your team.

This is a terrific opportunity to gear up for the spring season, to get to know NGS’ DOC Gary Beatty and MPS’ Mark McDevitt, and to see these professional coaches in action.  There will also be an opportunity for Q & A at the end of the session.

We look forward to seeing you there!!
