Gary Beatty of Mass Premier Soccer and NGS’ Director of Coaching (DOC) will conduct two evening Coach Education sessions focusing on Soccer Essentials for the successful development of elementary and middle school players, U8 - U14. Based on coaches’ feedback and Gary’s experience working with a number of different teams as NGS’ Director of Coaching, he has chosen the following topics to help you develop or hone your players’ skills and ensure they are using the correct technique for:
On March 10
Controlling the ball:
- Options on how to receive the ball
- Appropriate direction of first touch
- Using different parts of the body
Dribbling:
- Turning techniques
- Attacking moves
- Dynamic and creative dribbling
On March 24
Ball Striking:
- Passing (short and long)
- Shooting – both dead and moving ball scenarios
- Volleying
Defending:
- Understanding the 3 P’s -- Position, Patience, and Pressure,
- Using pressure/cover/balance defending
- How to delay, when to tackle, and the importance of communication
Gary will show you how to teach these skills, and guide you in how to prepare training sessions that will help your players improve in these areas. This is a terrific opportunity to gear up for the spring season and to get to know NGS’ DOC Gary Beatty. Come dressed and ready to play.
